Anthem #44: Ukraine

I was very excited to go to the Ukraine because my grandmother on my mother's side is Ukrainian. She was very happy to find out that we were going to travel to this country and get to experience some of the local food and culture.

Ukraine has had a bit of a rough history. Kiev was founded by three brothers Kyi, Shchek and Koryv and their sister Lybid. Kiev is named after Kyi, the eldest brother. Kiev is also one of the most beautiful and oldest cities in Eastern Europe and you can see that in the amazing buildings and architecture. Ukraine was destroyed during the Mongol invasion and was quick to restore itself. Here is a picture of a beautiful building in Kiev:

There have been many conflicts between Ukraine and Russia including in recent years. Last year alone, 5,665 people were killed and 13,961 people wounded in conflicts in eastern Ukraine. 5.2 million people are estimated to be living in conflict areas. This is the reason many Ukrainians hate Putin (the Russian President). In fact, we even saw Putin toilet paper in the markets as shown in this picture below:

Most of the children in the SOS village are there because of these wars and conflicts with Russia. We met lots of kids and the cultural clothes that they wore were amazing. The village was in a forest with some of the tallest trees I have ever seen.

Here's the anthem singing below:

Thanks for reading and watching bye!!!
